Trinidadian born Alan Weekes was first taught to play the piano by Louise McIntosh at the Pan Piper’s Music School, Winvilla in St. Augustine, the home of the late Winifred Atwell .

In 1989, shortly after arriving in the UK, Alan had lessons with Robert Bell, former pupil of Iso Elinson, Vlado Perlemuter and Ilona Kabos. Alan and Mr Bell paid homage to the late Winifred Atwell in the première performance of Lionel Harrison's Fancypants rag for piano duet at the prestigious Central Bank Auditorium of Trinidad & Tobago. Following the performance of solo & duet piano music, Anne Hilton wrote: “The Schubert Fantasie was a tapestry of sound........”. She continued, saying of Alan's rendition of Chopin’s Sonata no.3 in B minor: “It was uplifting and awe-inspiring, a balm to the spirit”.

Alan holds a performance degree from Middlesex University having graduated with honours  in 1995. He has played extensively for ballet schools in London and taught privately and at the Westminster School of Performing Arts. He now resides in the Kent countryside where he continues to teach form his home studio.
Alan is a member of the Musicians Union and The European Piano Teachers Association.
